HRCC - Autumn Historic Warwick Morgan Park Raceway

The Autumn Historic Warwick race meeting was another enjoyable weekend of historic motorsport in country Queensland. Around 160 entrants took to the 3km long circuit of Morgan Park Raceway with perfect racing weather prevailing. Friday practice took its toll with gremlins reducing the competitors to 144 on Saturday.Historic Touring cars had a huge entry with 43 entrants across Groups Na, Nb and Nc competing not only for club championship points but also two trophy races, the Bill Campbell Trophy for Group N only and the Jack Lacey Trophy for all group N’s.Groups S & T was also a good turnout with 16 cars setting qualifying times. Groups V, Lb and M were combined into a grid where there was some fierce Formula Vee racing. Just one Regularity Trial group for this meeting which was for Sports and Touring Cars with a diverse entry of 23 drivers.HRCC, for a number of years has been actively encouraging Group U Historic Sports Sedans to come out of the woodwork and as such have made grids available at its race meetings. This event attracted 14 entrants and was made different with a Super Sprint format.The faster Sports and Racing cars of Groups O, P, Q and R comprised a grid of 13 cars of which there were two racing cars with ex F1 driver heritage and were the quickest on track for the weekend. The grid also contained six Sports 2000 cars.Formula Fords of various ages made for more open wheel racing with 11 cars entered.Also entertaining was the East Coast Super Mini Challenge. Open to all categories of the infamous Mini, including the modern variants.
