Collie Coalfields 500 (VSCCW A)

Collie Coalfields 500

The Town of Collie has a long and glorious history with 'round the houses' racing being run for motorcycles in the 1960's and 1970's.

In September 2006 the VSCC joined forces with the Historic Motorcycle Club of Western Australia to run the inaugural Historic Race and Regularity event at the Collie Motorplex.

The event format is unique with historic category motor vehicles competing for the Collie Coalfield 500 over two competitive days. .  Spectators are in for a treat, with a central hill offering a view of nearly 80% of the entire track coupled with the more traditional track side viewing posts that offer sensational pictures for all who attend.

The Collie Coalfields 500 offers members the opportunity to compete against the clock in a trial of regularity or to race on a tight, fast and challenging circuit.

Entry to regularity is open to a wide variety of historic category vehicles with racing restricted to Motorsport Australia log-booked vehicles only.

Baskerville Histories (HSCC-MGCC Tas)

The three-day meeting will run Friday 17th to Sunday 19th September with practice and qualifying on Friday, racing on Saturday and Sunday with the popular grid walk a feature at lunchtime Sunday.

Despite the pandemic preventing participation by mainland cars, the bumper entry list of more than 170 local cars is one of the biggest and most varied in years.

Spectator admission fees have been held at 2019 prices – $25 adults, kids under 14 free. There will be gate sales, only. Masks are mandatory for all attendees on the Saturday and Sunday, and all patrons will be required to check-in for COVID either by QR code or manually.

A “coffee and cars” style event will be held Saturday morning with the first 50 eligible cars parking in the show area receiving a free TasCaffe coffee voucher to be used onsite. On Sunday, drivers of pre-1990 cars participating in the Shannon’s Show n Glo will be admitted for $20 with all other adult car occupants paying $25.

Fans can expects the usual array of historic race cars from through the ages, either on static display or competing in the special events for these cars.

The always popular Muscle Car Cup returns, and the largest field of big-banger historic sports sedans in decades will be crowd favourites. Holden fans will appreciate the large field of early  model Holden race cars.

Small Ford Group N racers such as Escorts, Cortinas, Anglias and Capris will also be in the spotlight with a special race for them. Also with their own race are the mighty Minis competing for the Kit Ellis Memorial trophy.

A select number of local race categories will also be on the program including the venerable HQs, historic sports and racing cars and the always-anticipated duels between the booming Mustangs and Camaros and the pesky Toranas.  Large Regularity fields are also featured.

Winton Festival of Speed (VHRR)

WINTON FESTIVAL OF SPEED

CANCELLED FOR 2021:  2022 DATE: AUGUST 6-7

Hi all,

just a short note to advise that we have reluctantly arrived at the decision to cancel the WFOS for 2021 — unfortunately, the current advice is that even if we come out of lockdown as scheduled on 2nd September, we will have the same restrictions in place which limit numbers to a maximum of 300 on site and it is also highly likely that the same restrictions which impacted entrants accommodation will also apply.

We have deliberately taken the decision now as we want entrants to have as much notice to cancel accommodation ensuring they can have deposits refunded.

We  have spoken with Winton Motor Raceway and Motorsport Australia  who are all in agreement with our decision

Regards

HSRCA SPRING FESTIVAL AT WAKEFIELD PARK (subject to further easing of restrictions)

We’re pleased to announce that this August 28th to 30th, we’ll be celebrating not only the return of spring, but our escape from the winter of social isolation when we head to Wakefield Park for our second historic race meeting of the year – the Spring Festival.

The Spring Festival will offer races for all of our usual fifth category vehicles as well as speed events for vehicles manufactured up to the 1990s and invited cars deemed compatible with those groups. There will be a BMC Challenge event as well as a ‘Give a Mate a Go’ grid. Private practice will be offered on Friday the 28th of August and will be hosted by Wakefield Park.

We are confident that we will be able to hold a relatively normal meeting, although some limitations may apply and there will be more guidelines to follow for obvious reasons.

For those same obvious reasons, we will be monitoring both the situation and the governmental regulations applying to it closely, and will adapt as necessary to ensure a safe and enjoyable meeting for all.

We look forward to not only being out in the open air, but filling it with the song of motorsport once more when we see you all this August 28-30 for the Spring Festival at Wakefield Park.
